Blacklisted airlines

Switzerland's main consumer organisation has called on the transport  
ministry to publish the names of airlines blacklisted for their poor  
safety records.
The group said European regulations preventing the publication were  
putting lives in danger.
It said passengers had a right to know about safety risks before  
booking a flight.
The ministry said 23 airlines were banned from operating in  
Switzerland, including the Egyptian charter company, Flash Airlines,  
but refused to give further details.
Last Saturday, 148 people died when a Flash Airlines plane crashed into  
the Red Sea.

Looks like the list might be forthcoming.

One way to check an airline is to try to book a flight to CH. If they  
fly you in on their airline (even with changes), then it should be OK.  
If they want to fly you to some point outside of CH and change to  
another airline to bring you in, beware. You should be told carriers  
and equipment if you ask.
