[Culturechat] No thanks

OKOKOKOK...I just have to respond....I love both Untour internet venues,
love hearing about peoples' trips and even what might be judged as trivial
observations and insights...It reminds me of when your kids come home from
school and you truly want to hear all about their day...in whatever depth
they wish to share...Idyll is a family, not just a "company." I respect
Havodka's and Nancy's opinions and right to log off. Go for it! Perhaps a
technical glitch on the ease of doing that can be fixed. In the meantime,
delete is easy. How about this for a topic: We did it once before, I
think, but I'm interested in the patriotism that encourages folks in
countries like Austria and Switzerland, to make their villages and cities so
very "tourist friendly" in cleanliness and general ambiance.
I wish it could be passed on to our beautiful USA cities like San Francisco.
And I hope that those who can not maintain the tone of friendliness,
tolerance and good will on these lines, will go to other boards and
chatlines. We have dinner table conversations here, not confrontations.

Amen - a chat room would be more appropriate.

I stopped participating in Untour internet venues because it is clear that
it is basically self serving. The "gurus" who write regularly and the
"company" people clearly have their own agendas for keeping this going. Many
of their views are less than enlightened. I was not happy to see it pop up
in my email again. Try an objective site - like About.com with its
Allexperts.com section.

I too want to be deleted and when I try it is a hassle - it has been so
long that I have had an interest in this site that I don't know my password
and don't see why I cannot just say no". Why should you need a password to
unsubscribe????

I admire the strategy behind cranking up Culture Chat but please take my
name
off the list. I have loved Switzerland since I was ten years old. I love
Idyll and its founder and all its people. I've been to Provence and many
other places. In fact, I spent fifteen years filming unusual travel for
American audiences. For all of that, I can't help but wonder how many are
interested in who gained weight from eating French food or who's landlady
loved her gifts, or any of the other comments that sudenly inundate my PC
screen. I hear the announcement that I have mail only to discover four or
more frankly boring statements from people who earnestly want to tell others
about their experiences. Call my attitude poor if that's how it seems to
you
but I want my mail announcements to be of their usual interest and not
what's
been coming in these last few days. Thanks anyway but count me out. As
before, if there's something I want an opinion about, I'll politely ask.
But
I'm not up for chatter. Respectfully. Harry Adriance
