I have asked many of you to make calls to ask people to pledge for 2006. =
As
you are all well aware, our budget for this coming year will be based on =
our
pledge income, so it is very important that we know what we are going to
receive so that you can set the budget. We can only do this once =
everyone
who is going to pledge has filled out a pledge card. Promising to do so =
at
some future date, or promising to put money in the plate, doesn't help =
us
plan our budget. We need them to pledge as soon as they can, and if
possible to let you know what they plan to pledge to help with the =
budget
planning.

Secondly, we want as many people as possible to pledge. We have =
received
pledges for next year which range from $50 to over $10,000, and we are
grateful for all of them. Every pledge, no matter the size, shows a
commitment to St. Mary's on the part of the person or family pledging. =
When
we can refer to greater numbers of "pledging units" rather than fewer, =
that
makes us more attractive to prospective members, because it shows the
commitment of our parishioners to our church and our mission. Encourage
everyone to make a pledge. Not all will, but perhaps more will if they =
feel
they do not have to make a major monetary commitment. Remind them that =
they
can also pledge time and energy to the church-we need more of both!

Finally, if they need pledge cards, we can supply them. Joan has them =
in
