We just received from the Social Work Department at CHOP the lodging
request below for a family of two wheelchair bound teenagers with muscular
dystrophy:
"A local family with two teenagers ages 17 and 16 who
are wheelchair-dependent have secured funding to have
their home remodeled to make it accessible. They need
to vacate the home for 8 to 12 weeks while the work is
being done. So what Mom would like ideally is a home
that she, the two teens and two other healthy school-
age children can stay in for 8 to 12 weeks. Mom is
quite resourceful, so if anyone might be able to help
with some aspect of this, I think some creative solutions
to obvious questions could be worked out. For instance,
there is other family around who may be able to host the
two healthy children. And Mom has a conversion van,
so transportation of the family is not a serious hurdle.
But there are obviously still major challenges to be solved.

able to carry the teens up and down stairs. As we currently do not have a
host-home in our network that will meet this family's needs, please

to find lodging for this family.
