Hi, Roberta,
At the back of the Holland book there is a list of other Daytrip books, and yes, he didn't do a Spain one, but there is a Daytrips Spain and Portugal book listed by Norman P.T. Renouf. 50 adventures. By the blurb it is very similar to Steinbicker's. ISBN: 0-8038-9389-2. Hope this helps.

Hi Lynne,
I was excited upon reading of Steinbicker's books and went looking for one on Barcelona where we are going on an Untours in the fall. Sadly, there was none. Would you know of other author or book with daytrips from Barcelona by rail or bus?
Roberta

Hi Pat,
In anticipation of going to Leiden on an Untour, I bought Earl Steinbicker's Daytrips - Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg 40 one day adventures by rail, bus, or car, third edition. Each daytrip has directions from a base city, a map of the town with suggested walking tour to see the important places, and suggestions for eating, and often where to spend an overnight.
I haven't been to Leiden yet, but I have the Italy Daytrip book that I've used to take day trips each time I've been to Venice, and I'm very impressed with his series.

Will be in Amsterdam in early August for a few days and about 5 days the 1st week in September. I'd like help with:
1. Day trips from Amsterdam
2. Must see in Amsterdam
3. Exploring surrounding country side in Netherlands, perhaps Belgium, perhaps German dutch border. I expect to take the train.
4. Relatively inexpensive clean safe places to stay in Amsterdam and other towns.
5. Good eats.
I appreciate helpful web sites and your personal experience. Thanks - Pat
