[Idyllchat] unnecessary cell phones

As do you all, we encounter people every day who misuse cell phones and just can't be unreachable. We rarely use our Mobal service on overseas trips. But, we have used it to reach our Untours rep (in one instance in a cab right out of airport when arriving substantially behind schedule thanks to BA, and a couple of other times to resolve questions/problems), and occasionally to reach European friends at their homes and to make restaurant and room reservations. My guess re use: typically less than 10 minutes call time in two weeks; as I said before, just a convenience. Have yet to receive an emergence call, thank goodness.
So dare I start another discussion thread: Our Untours Tuscany North host introduced us to a TomTom GPS that saved us so much time on a daily basis getting there-getting back while steering us around places to be avoided that we bought one as soon as we got home. We've enjoyed being guided by our chosen veddy-British "Jane" voice option to remote/unfamiliar locations in the U.S. as well as to slews of destinations in Italy, Germany, France and Luxembourg.
