Hi!  Just wanted to jump in here, as my husband and I did a 14 day driving tour of southern and northern Ireland last May.  We booked with AutoEurope at Dublin Airport....ended up with an automatic Ford Focus, full insurance (added some there), and our total cost was about $1100  for the 14 days.  AutoEurope had an initially low special for our 2 weeks....the extra was in the insurance charges, which we felt worthwhile. We'd booked a manual, but the airport booth was having a special on the automatic, and it's worth it with the driving challenges in Ireland!   Have a good trip!

  we are just back from Northern Ireland and Ireland.  We arranged for a car to be picked up in Derry airport through our loca;l branch of CAA.  They booked us with Hertz.  My husband is 76.  We had no problem.  We paid for the car here, and the bulk of the insurance.  When we got to Derry we pput on the extra driver, and the extra insurance.  Yes , it is very expensive, but i didn't want a 500 pound deductible(1000 dollars).  It was lucky we had it, we got a scratch!  We figured the car was about $90 a day +/-.   We enjoyed it , and drove into Ireland with it, no problem, no extra charge, no border!  Check out Hertz.
