[Idyllchat] Paris and the professionals

Another neat trick happened to us: We entered the Paris Metro. My
wife had a small shoulder purse, cross shoulder, maybe Travelsmith,
in front, hand on purse, zipped. Her passport was in her money belt
under her clothes with her money. Her wallet was empty and in her
purse with cosmetics and other non valuables. We entered the gates
side by side, and there were a couple of guys in the gate beyond
her. I went through. Her gate stuck. The guys next to her leaned
over to help her open it, actually, in retrospect, blocking it.
Finally she got through. We went our way (her purse still zipped)and
the guys went theirs. Then, we stopped at the big wall map beyond
the gates, arguing about our route. As we stood there, one of the
guys approached--"Did you drop this?'--holding her red wallet. They
gave it (back) to her, worthless unless she tipped them. She did
not. Ben Gilson
