[Idyllchat] River Cruising in Europe/Rhine

We have been on 6 Grand Circle river trips (including Russia) and heartily recommend them.  The program directors have all been excellent.

We have just returned from a two-week Grand Circle trip to Tuscany and while not as relaxing as a river trip we had an excellent program director and a very good time.  

We do recommend Grand Circle.  However, once you are on their mailing list your mailbox will never be empty.

We also have been very satisfied with Elderhostel programs.  You need to remember that one of the things that contributes to the expense is that all meals are included.  We used to be able to do hiking trips, but at age 80 with arthritis problems that is no longer possible.

Our all time favorite Elderhostel is titled "Music in the Heartland" in Berlin, Munich, Salzburg, and Vienna.  It included opera, symphony, and chamber music performances as well as private concerts and lectures on music.  It also included some tourist type tours in addition.

We will be attending our 28th Elderhostel at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. in April.

Although we usually go for a more active vacation, this coming fall we 
need to be more relaxed.  Has anyone done these cruises with Viking, 
Vantage, Uniworld and/or Grand Circle?  Is it worth the cost?
