[Idyllchat] Get My Message Off the Internet!!!!!

Claudia,
You have discovered that the Internet very rarely forgets anything. It works like this. Search engines like Google, Yahoo and ask.com scan the Internet via publically available lists and record what they find. More than just record what they find, they often make a copy of it. The copy is kept in the search engine's readily retrievable memory, a.k.a. cache. The idea behind keeping this copy is that the copy provides speedy access to the information when someone clicks on the results of their Google/Yahoo search.
All this storing of information is generally a good thing but it can turn bad when something is out there for all to see and you don't want it to be. I guess all this explanation is a way of saying that there's no way to take it back. :-(

Hi, Claudia:

On the page that you signed up for IdyllChat on there is a link to the public IdyllChat archive. There's also a link at the bottom of every Idyllchat email. It's simply a publically available list, like most lists of this type, and it's been this way since it was created...gosh, I'm not even sure when...7 or 8 years ago?

We don't have a way of removing a particular person's posts from the archives.

I will ask Kim to put "Publically Available Archives" on the archives link at the bottom of each email, but be aware, if you post to the list it is available to the public.

Thanks,

Julie Siebel
