[Idyllchat] A Walking Stick (but oh so much more...)

I think Bob has the right idea and insight on this item. We have a couple of telescoping poles that we use that were less than $20 and they are also good for blocking sliding doors at our house when we are gone on non-hiking trips! For photos I lean on my partner for steadiness or find a solid object to rest against while shooting the picture; plus all the newer digital cameras all come with anti-shock or vibration systems that take care of the "jitters" ..............

An interesting device for the hard core hiker or photographers, but at $240-280, one would have to live a long time to get their money's worth out of it. One can buy pretty satisfactory collapsible hiking poles for WalMart for about $15 each.

I'm nervous to bring up this topic as I know how much discussion there's been in the past, but I wanted to ask if anyone had ever heard of the "TrekPod"?
    http://trek-tech.com/

It's apparently a walking stick & tripod in one. Here's what their website says:

    "It's a Walking Staff,
    It's a Monopod,
    It's a Tripod—and the
    MagMount Works Like Magic!
"A revolutionary multi-purpose tripod system that is the most exciting and innovative new outdoor recreation product to come along in years!"

TrekPod™ provides a unique multi-function solution that is portable, stable and quickly interchangeable.

The TrekPod light-weight tripod/monopod/hiking & /wading staff converts from hiking mode to tripod in seconds, and attaches your camera or observation optics via the fully integrated quick-release MagMount™ system instantly.

TrekPod with MagMount allows you to take your outdoor experience to a new level. Enjoy more comfortable hiking, fatigue-free photography and observation and get the shots never before possible!

Go farther, see more, carry less."

I'm not affiliated with them at all, just thought those of you who are avid photographers AND hikers would be interested.
