Dear Idyllchat.....Several years ago we rented a car in England, and although I had several prior trips driving safely on the "wrong" side of the road this trip was not good.  I managed to squeeze onto the left hand curb while trying to avoid a large dory "coming at me" from the other direction.   My skills were not what they should have been and I flattened  both left tires and badly dented the left front wheel.  We were on a country road between Bath and Chester and luckily I found a driveway to pull into and a small restaurant close by.The friendly proprietor gave the shaky driver and his wife tea and the use of a phone.  Within 20 minutes a tow truck was on the scene which towed the car back to Bath.  The scared driver and his passenger went along in the front seat of the truck.  We found a hotel in Bath and called Hertz canceling the rental.  Repairs were made to the car and it was picked up by Hertz. NO QUESTIONS WERE ASKED. We took the train to meet our friends in Wales for a canal trip and a wonderful week.Our train travel was uneventful for getting us back to Chester and subsequently to Manchester and home to California.  
This long narrative leads the reader to the knowledge that we had waived CDW insurance and our Master Charge took care of everything.  This is a true story.
The embarrassment of the driver was overcome by the pleasure of doing business with Master Charge.
