Deb,
I realize you will receive many answers and opinions on this topic, so here's mine. Travelex (www.travelex.com/usa) provides travel insurance with car rental insurance coverage in their Travel Plus policy -- it provides for up to $50,000 worth of damage to a rental car. What I like about Travelex is that their car insurance coverage is primary. Many of the other well-known travel insurance providers make their car insurance coverage secondary (and they don't broadcast this fact so you really need to read the fine print or ask a rep), which means they kick in only after all your other coverage options have been exhausted. Translation: Lots of work for you and a possible surcharge on your own auto policy at home if you had any coverage through it. Travelex takes on the whole responsibility -- if you total the car, you get to walk away with no out of pocket expenses other than the cost of the policy. Check them out online and then call and talk to them if you have further quest
ions.
Their Travel Lite policy is what I usually take out if I'm not renting a car. I've found their coverage to be more than adequate and their prices very competitive. I've not yet had to file a claim with them, but know two people who have. Yes, you have to provide everything they ask for and you need to be sure you follow their procedures, but my two friends each got a satisfactory settlement from them.
Anyway, hope this helps. Good luck.

I have been looking through the archives trying to get some suggestions on rental car insurance and I can't find any archived info since 2001. Am I looking in the right place?
Does anyone have any suggestions on rental insurance for picking up a car at the Munich airport from Hertz? The car is booked through untours so even if my credit card would normally cover foreign rentals, it won't in this case. Any suggestions will help.
Thanks,
Deb
