Fellow Travelers,
Years ago we hiked in the Lenk, Switzerland area, sometimes after taking the lift, sometimes not. We liked quiet and a-bit-out-of-the-way Lenk. During past Swiss Oberland Untours based in Frutigen we've visited Adelboden and meandered outside the village for an hour or two or three or four at a time. We enjoyed Adelboden. On a map of Switzerland, Adelboden and Lenk are relatively close to one another as the crow flies, whereas, by public transportation the journey is rather roundabout. The idea of hiking from Adelboden to Lenk for the adventure of it - certainly not to save time - had (and has) appeal. Googling "Swiss Hikes" eventually took me to the fascinating site immediately below.

>From its homepage, a click on "hiking" easily brought me to an enormous number of Swiss hikes including day hikes, and multi-day hikes. Among the latter was the Alpine Pass Route, a leg of which - lo and behold - was the Adelboden-Lenk hike sought (below). Yikes! Seems somewhat ambitious for one having turned 71 only yesterday and a wife lagging closely behind - by the way, lagging in age only. This Adelboden-Lenk hike has by no means been crossed off the list for our upcoming Oberland Untour.

Incidentally, as a bonus, at the "activityworkshop" homepage, a click on "puzzles and games" offers an excellent Sudoku tutorial (below). Mastery of the relatively small number of well-presented strategies enables one to handle all but the diabolical Sudokus, which, fortunately, appear rarely in newspapers.

Happy travels,
