Exactly my point in my earlier note. I think we are more aware of  
American's bad manners when we are in another country because we feel  
the locals identify us with them.

  Of course, we have seen plenty of that sort of generalization in our  
own country, especially relative to the French. Our friends (???) in  
Washington did plenty to promote that attitude a few short years ago!
