[Idyllchat] Back to the Topic of Single Travel

A few have tired of the top of stick shifts so I'm changing the Subject
Line....

I've followed this posting about stick shifts with kind of a chuckle and
a sense of amusement.

This discussion began when I inquired about single Untours travel for a
woman to South Tuscany.

I was thinking of concerns like paying a single supplement fee, safety
of traveling alone, friendliness of the

natives and fellow Untours travelers I might run into, ease of getting
directions and assistance when needed,

cultural receptivity to a single female traveler, etc...

Betty Ruth and Rosa, whom I do not know, cheered me on and said "Go for
it!'' Several of you kindly

suggested other locations - cities vs. more remote locations,
Switzerland, Germany, etc.

And then someone mentioned stick shifts and co-opted my question about
single travel. Kind of like

an old fashioned game of "gossip" when someone whispers an original
message in someone's ear

and the message at the end of the line is totally different.

So, back to my original question - Is Untours, anywhere, set up to be a
good trip provider of choice

for single travelers - male or female?

Maybe all's been said on the subject that can be ....at this point.

Fun to know you're all out there.

Subject: Re: [Idyllchat] Stick vs. automatic shifts

I have followed this posting with interest. Both my husband and myself
can drive a stick shift and insisted that our children learn also much
to their chagrin, but it has been valuable to them once or twice.

You've been gone too long Vance. Most of the automatic
transmissions of today make the cars go in reverse also and we have
steering wheels instead of sticks now. (Sorry, couldn't resist the dig).
I do drive a stick shift but few people I know, especially young people,
have any knowledge of shifting gears and what a clutch is.
