[Idyllchat] Stick vs. automatic shifts

My problem driving in Scotland was not shifting with my left hand or
remembering to stay on the left hand side
of the road. It was perspective and judging where the car actually is.
When you drive a right-drive car, you sit on the right with the rest of the
car to your left. Now make a left hand turn.
You have to remember that you have all that car on your left so that you
don't take the turn too tight. Leaving the
rental car lot and exiting Edinburgh airport, you have to go through 3
roundabouts before you get into traffic. I hit the
curb exiting all 3 because I turned to the left too tightly. Fortunately for
me, this made me much more careful and aware
of where the car really was before I had to make a left in the city itself
where I would have hit a parked car.
