Hi Dick,
 
You're moving right along into the 21st century .  And I'm right behind you - way behind.  For Christmas my son gave me a "real" computer - my first..  My daughters said my old MSNtv was not a computer!  One of my daughters also gave me hi-speed internet hookup and taught me how to use this newfangled beast.  Could keep the same email address.  I've been in my house for 45 years, and have yet to purchase a garage door opener, mainly because I don't have a garage.  I do have an indoor gas stove, but use it rarely - don't cook much - microwave, the Crockpot and toaster ovens are great!  
 
What I do have is a brand new 2008 Scion SD that I bought Dec.1, 2007.  It replaced a 1987 Toyota Camry that I had driven for 20 years, without driving any other car.  The saleslady got very impatient with me, so I had to remind her I was not some 20-30-something-year-old that trades a car every few years! Also had to buy a car that would allow my 4'8" frame to see over the steering wheel and reach the pedals. Paid cash for half (what a great Reverse Mortgage is doing for me), and my other daughter is financing the rest for a 60-month loan without interest!  Took a month to get half-way comfortable in  this completely differently kind of car. (Didn't realize how sluggish the responses to steering, accelerating, and braking my Camry had become.)  But when my son's friend wanted to buy it, I learned to drive my new car in a day ;-]
 
Back to Idyllchat - with the new computer, I can now get to, and read, the Idyll home page and see all the enticements, and also access the Idyll Cafe, something I couldn't do with my TV computer :-((.  And, hopefully, between still catching up with Dr. visits and their various tests, I can do blogs  of my last summer's Venice trip.  And now I also can hopefully include some of the hundreds of pix that I took while there in 2007.

After seven years of Windows 98 and dial-up, we've sprung for a new computer and high-speed internet.  Three years ago, after 37 years in our house, we purchased automatic garage door openers.  This year, we hope to buy our first stove as Joan has grown weary of cooking over an open fire.
 
This is just a test to verify that I can post with my new address.  No reply needed as I'll know in seconds if it works, and I know what to do if it doesn't.
