[Idyllchat] Travel to Pompeii

We will be staying in Montalcino in September and would like to do an overnight trip to Pompeii, possibly staying in Sorrento.? If anyone has done this, I would like to know if it would be easier to drive there, or if there is a train we can take either from Buonconvento or somewhere else nearby to Sorrento.
