I have obtained an unlocked Motorola Quad-mode GSM phone that will
work on European frequencies. I purchased on eBay a domestic T-Mobile
pre-paid SIM card to test the phone.

I also obtained a MOBAL SIM pay-as-you-go (not prepaid) card that is
supposed to work in Spain and Switzerland, where I'll be travelling
this year. However, at $1.99 per minute, including mistakes, I will
use it sparingly.

Another option that I've considered is a PREPAID account from
www.traveltele.com . Their rates for a call from Switzerland to the
USA is 69 cents per minute. At the website, this card costs $41.00
e/w $11 in prepaid, which can be added to when desired. These cards
can also be purchased on eBay w/o installed prepaid time, i.e., they
need immediate charge, for $25. The rate is the same for local
in-Switzerland calls. Does anyone have any experience with TravelTele??

A third choice is from http://www.ekit.com They also sell a prepaid
SIM service. Their calling rates are higher than TravelTele but lower
than MOBAL. These cards are also available on eBay. Does anyone have
any experience with eKit??
