We just returned from South Tuscany in late October and ad taken our Mobal phone with us for the trip.  The bill was a shocking $63 but then I discovered the "more than several" misdials in an attempt to learn to use the phone correctly. Also had an incorrect phone number for one contact and you are indeed charged for just dialing, I believe.  There were also several 20-minute (not advisable) calls on the bill.  Their customer service was great and the reception on the phone fantastic.  Will continue to use it on trips for emergencies and short calls here and abroad.
