Agree with Pete and Jay. Can't beat the Langenscheidt "L" dictionaries.
No one has mentioned the handy little Euro Interpreters, made by Franklin. I have been using this Interpreter for many years. It is 4.5 x 3", and light (113 grams), easy to use keyboard and small LCD screen. You convert from your language (English) to German, Spanish, French, Italian, Netherlands, Swedish. It translates words, phrases, calculates and converts and has a databank for personal information. I have been contemplating getting a new one--Magellan's carries them. Going to check if the individual language stores more words--know they have more languages which I really don't need. It does not replace the little "L" dictionary.
The converter also makes friends! Can't tell you how many children and adults watch me converting, as I see store signs, advertisements, etc. riding the train. I always let them use it--to their delight. Also, if I get puzzled over something in a shop, I can put in a word or phrase, and voila, a solution. Cheers. Joan.
