Hi Donna: My advice is that Normandy is a separate trip. You would not do justice to this wonderful area of unique history. I would not recommend a visit to Normandy for less than 3 days. Five days in Paris is a very short time. Take time in Paris to enjoy the parks, cafes, and the passing scene. Window shopping in Paris is a joy. The street markets are enchanting, with stalls of art, jewelry, books, stamps, old post cards, even song birds. Don't forget Notre Dame, and perhaps an organ concert. Take an evening boat trip on the Seine You will get some good advice from the Francophiles in this chat group. You will be wise not to over-plan. Joan.

Subject: [Idyllchat] 5 days in Paris
My friends and I are planning a trip to Provence this Sept. We are going to start off with 5 days in Paris first. We don't want to miss a thing but we don't want to overplan either. We are thinking of staying on the Left Bank. A day for the Louvre and a day at Versailles and a day for shopping I think are givens. Would a side trip to Normandy be possible? How about a trip to the champagne country? Anyone know of a "not so expensive'' hotel on the Left Bank?
