Having been raised Catholic - altar boy, Latin mass, the whole shebang -
I was used to giving up something for lent each year.  About fifteen
years ago I gave up being Catholic - it's the only Lenten sacrifice I
ever stuck with.  Best decision I ever made.  Would never go back

Great photos Barbara--and the family Greutert/Omlin look wonderful.  And
what a pair Albert & Vance make.  Just know I saw a Raider football fan
on one of the floats in front of the Spar/Beck shop in Giswil!  Mardi
Gras really brings out the sense of humor in some of these
creations--and a little spice too.
 
Today, Ash Wednesday, I am pondering giving up chocolate.  So far (it's
only1:00pm) I am undecided, but need to make a bold decision soon.
Perhaps just pure bar chocolate--not hot chocolate, or icing on a cake?
