The trip is spectacular but pricey. You'll find 
the fares at

The basic adult second-class roundtrip from 
Interlaken East is CH178. With a Swiss Pass, the 
deal is much better as you get as far Wengen, 
Mürren or Grindelwald for free and the rest of 
the way is discounted. But even with the pass 
it's not cheap.

I doubt it will bother the kids in your party but 
many adults feel the altitude of 11,332 feet.

Make sure you have a day of good visibility. 
Before going, check the live cameras from the 
summit that are available on cable TV. If you get 
to the top and it is in clouds you will have 
wasted your money. Take sunglasses.
