[Idyllchat] Venice gondola weight limits?

Some friends will be on a cruise vacation that will stop at several ports
including Venice. One of the Venice shore excursions offered by the cruise
line includes a gondola ride. The information furnished by the cruise line
states that there is a weight limit of 230 lbs. for any passenger on the
gondola ride.

We do not recall any such weight limitation when we were in Venice. However,
that was five years ago and things may have changed. Do any of your recent
Venice travelers know of any such limitation?

Incidentally, between this guy and his wife, they would average less than
the 230 lb./person limitation. However, they don't want to pay for a shore
trip and find one of them cannot go.
