I know I'm a few days late, but I would like to weigh in on the Venice-Veneto discussion. Several years ago we did the Venice Untour, and probably will do it again. However, I feel a visit to the Veneto is a separate trip. We did that last spring after our Sicily Untour. We went to view as many Palladian Villas as possible. We stayed in a wonderful agriturismo 20 km from Vincenza.
I highly recommend Palazzetto Ardi - www.palazzettoardi.com It is a small organic farm and winery. We had a very nice apt with upscale kitchen, but they also have B&B rooms. The owners, Michela and Carlo looked after our every need and could not have been more helpful. On premise you can buy their wine, salami, fresh eggs, local honey and cheeses. They invited us to help ourselves from their large vegetable garden and Carlo bakes bread every Fri. Some days dinner is available--Michela's food was written up in the New York Times just before we went.
We had a car, but you could easily get to Vincenza, Verona and Padua by train. The station is a short walk, or Carlo would probably drive you there.
Hope this is helpful
