Sue,

All I can suggest is try. The usual practice is to issue vouchers  
good on a future flight, typically within one year. You could always  
try again with reservations and take the approach that you are  
actually canceling one reservation and making a new one. That is  
actually what happened in our case a couple years ago with Northwest.  
They did hit us with a $25/ticket penalty but issued a voucher for  
the balance of the difference in the flight costs.
