Hi Marcia,

I just got back from the Tuscany North Untour and I don't see any responses to your question yet.

I fell in love with the Eyewitness Guide for Florence.  I had never seen that series before but a friend lent it to us for our trip and it was wonderful.  It was chock full of information and the pictures were very helpful in locating what they were telling us about!  

"One size doesn't fit all" but you might want to take a look at one in a bookstore and see if it appeals to you.
