Bev is my daughter. I had asked her where she got her converter/adapter set that I've borrowed each time I went to Venice. Lynanne

I don't know where I got it, but the converter is made by Proctor-Silex.
I've had it since before our first Venice trip. It "converts 220/240 VAC to
110/120 VAC, 50-60 HZ". It also came with different plug adapters as well.
Note: I think we found that some chargers are already designed to convert to
110/120 without needing a converter, and may just need the adapters. If the
charger doesn't say the it converts, then you'd need to use the converter
also.

What is the name of your converter set, and where did you get it?

This may have been answered before, but if it wasn't I would like to relate
my experience. I purchased a "convertor" for my battery charger from Radio
Shack before I left for Venice two weeks ago. The "convertor" killed the
charger. It fit the outlet but wasn't of the correct voltage, according to
a store in Canareggio. Fortunately, I had taken an extra set of charged
batteries so I could continue photographing. I am going to return the
convertor" and see what they say.

The only thing I can add to your wonderful list is, take several backup
batteries and a battery charger for your camera. It's amazing how many pix
you will take when you know you can delete at will. And you will also need
a converter for the plug for the charger. And always have those backup
batteries with you. Nothing is more frustrating than to have that aha
moment with a dead battery.

My first year with a digital camera I assured my daughter I wouldn't take
many pix because I'd been to Venice many times and didn't think I'd take
many pix. Wrong!! She said, "take lots - you can always delete"

Well, even after deleting I had run out of space and had to delete some
more. Make sure you have no less than a 1 GB memory card.

Have fun, and report back to us when you return home.

Thank you to all the Idyllchaters who answered my many concerns, interests,
and questions surrounding my first Untour trip to Southern Tuscany.
You lightened my concerns, peaked my interests and had humorous, intelligent
and informative answers to all my questions.
Be assured that more than one "ah ha" moment will occur thanks to something
one of you commented on.
I have my Euros. I am ready to pack all in my brand new bright blue 21"
suitcase. I have a new digital camera, with recent instructions from a
camera store. I've gotten (for the first time in my life) a Debit/ATM card
and a Capital One credit card. I've learned a smattering of Italian that
will be spoken with a Chicago accent. I know how to pack my meds. I have a
money belt. I'll make copies of passport, credit card, debit/atm card,
medical cards, drivers license.
All of those things are thanks to your comments and stories in the archives.
Thank you so very, very much.
Grazie. Buona sera.
Janet

PS - if you have any last minute suggestions, I'll still pick up until
Tuesday, 9/25 - then Buon giorno Alitalia!
