Linda,
Germany was great. Untours was great. We did the Castle Untour 15 to
29 August and we have nothing but good things to say about it. I keep
giving out the Untours web address to people we meet. And Im sure the
Rhine Untour is just as great, especially if you havent visited a
foreign country before and are leery about driving and venturing out
everything will be local.
For us the Castle Untour was the right choice because I lived in that
area about 25 years ago, I speak some German, I have contacts in the
area, and Im familiar with driving in Europe. Our apartment (the
Jeannette) was also great as were Herr and Frau von Crailsheim they
were wonderful hosts. Also, I was not interested in a tour of 25 cities
in 14 days; been there, done that, got the souvenir beer mug. I wanted
a base camp where I could unpack one time and work from there. We could
come and go as we pleased, we could create our own itinerary, we could
just while away the time walking around Sommersdorf and being lazy. We
did take a two day excursion through the Alps and into Austria (there
was a disappointment here; no more border crossings, so no stamp in the
passport). Im hoping to go again not next summer, but the following.
I was hoping to post comments and pictures (we have tons) on the Untours
Café, but since we returned we have been non-stop busy with family and
work. Maybe next month Ill be able to do that.
Would be glad to chat about it some more if youre interested, greeting
from Rhode Island
Dave Bouchard

Subject: [Idyllchat] First trip to Germany
My husband and I are planning our first trip to Germany next year. Has
anyone gone on the Sampler tour or is the 2 week tour a better option?
Any suggestions on the towns? or sights to see or things to do? We have
never traveled outside of the US before so any advice is very welcome!
Thanks!
