One note of clarification:  You can get the bus all the way from the 
airport in Venice to the Piazzale Roma bus stop, so it isn't necessary 
to ride both the bus and the vaporetto unless you choose to.  The time 
is probably not too different, though I remembered it as more like 30 
minutes by bus.
