Hi Linda, Sorry to take so long responding. We have been away without
internet connection. By now you have had several recommendations and
I'm sure you have been studying the Idyll publication about Nafplio and
the Peloponnese. Idyll really gives good advice. We enjoyed the
restaurants in Nafplio. The ones near the dock are more expensive. I
remember one in particular, not far from the Avis place, where the
waiter takes you to the back of the restaurant where you select your
fish from a large selection kept on ice. At another place near the dock
I ordered "small fish" out of curiosity. That was a mistake - a large
platter of small deep fried fish - not good.
We were thrilled to see the huge outdoor theater at Epidaurus and
the place where the Olympics began, Ancient Olympia. The later was an
overnight trip for us (I hope the recent fires have not done a lot of
damage).
After Nafplio we followed Idyll's advice, turned in the car and took
the bus to Athens. In spite of the unfavorable things one hears about
Athens we really enjoyed a few days there. The bus station in Athens is
quite far from central Athens, where the hotels and major tourist sites
are. If you do this, follow Idyll's advice - don't take a taxi if the
driver refuses to turn on the meter. After the sights in Athens we only
managed to get to one island - the closest which is Aegina.
I hop Christos is the Idyll representative now. He was so well
informed and always ready to help. If he is there ask if he remembers
the 2005 Thanksgiving dinner.
    Have a great trip!
