On one occasion I thought I took the makins for a pecan pie to my hostess, but I forgot the pecans. Glory be, I finally found a source in Switzerland, but I can't remember where.

I have never attempted to mail pecans, but on at least 3 occasions--including this past August--I took 2 large bags of shelled pecans (bought at Costco) to the landlady where we were staying and had no difficulty. I usually pack them in my checked luggage, but at least once I left them in my carry-on and plainly showed them at security. This does make a nice gift since they do lots of baking and I have not seen many packages of shelled nuts in stores there.

We would like to send our Swiss Heartland host and hostess some shelled Texas pecans as a gift. We know some agricultural products aren't allowed into other countries. Does anyone know if it's "legal" to mail pecans to Switzerland?
