[Idyllchat] Travel Expense

I've been reading the chat about the rising cost of travel. And, yes, it
daunting. Seems to me most Untours travelers are experienced at making the most of
travel dollars. That is one of the things that draws us to Untours and is why
we can benefit so much from sharing our experiences.

This summer we (my husband, 9-year-old grandson, and I) spent a month in
Scotland traveling for the first two weeks with Home at First followed by two
weeks of a specially arranged genealogy tour of our clan. Both segments were as
low cost as possible. Yet, the entire trip was the most expensive we've had to
the point. I refused to total up our costs because I didn't want that knowledge
to undermine the richness of our experience.

Which brings me to the point. Travel is one of the most enriching and
expanding experiences we can have. It connects us with ourselves and with others in
ways nothing else can. It broadens our understanding of our world and the
larger world around us. It shatters barriers between cultures and countries. It
moves us toward a state of fuller understanding and oneness.

How can we put a price on that? I'd rather forego all manner of small
luxuries during the year to save those funds for travel. The rewards of travel can't
be measured.

Janet
