Totally agree with Pete, Bob Miller, Charlotte, and Bob Bestor. Don't stop traveling--just travel smart--starting with Untours.
The cost of our trips to the Swiss Heartland have decreased over the years by learning to live and shop like natives.
When we traveled to the castle region in 2006 we were amazed at the lower cost of living in that part of Germany. We loved going to the market and scoring "best buy" sale items. Their market specials are advertised just like ours--beginning on Tuesday. Eating out was very reasonable in that area.
Another perspective. We are currently on our autumn baseball trip to Scottsdale, Arizona (MLB's prime prospect league). This is what I call expensive! For lunch we split a medium pizza, a caesar salad, and two pepsi's--$53.00. (Lunch tomorrow is a banana). Travel in the USA is no bargain.
