This can happen when a URL gets word-wrapped and then cut and pasted. Soft carriage returns get replaced with blanks. I'm so used to it that I always eyeball links. Normally a URL should never have a blank. If it's necessary for a parameter (what follows the "?") the blank is usually replaced with "%20", which is the character code escape sequence for a blank.
