In August, 2005, when the flooding in Switzerland caused us to be too late for our homeward flight from Zurich, our travel insurance (through Untours) covered an overnight stay in a Zurich hotel and all our meals until Swissair could put us on the next day's flight.  We received our check within just a couple of weeks, with no hassle whatsoever.

I'd like to note that Jessica, the Untours rep in Meiringen, did a marvelous job of keeping track of people (some of us had been moved during the night of the flooding and landslides) and of finding transportation to Zurich when many of the train lines were closed.  And Swissair was most accommodating; they found us a very nice hotel room when Zurich was choked with stranded travelers, put us on their next flight to Chicago, and allowed us to check our bags a day early so that we didn't have to lug them back and forth to the hotel.  (They did these things without being asked, let alone begged!)

  I wanted to tell other Untourist about our experience with the insurance offered by Untours.  On Oct. 20, while in Locarno, Switzerland, I fell, breaking 3 bones in my foot and ankle.  2 weeks ago I sent in a claim for the Locarno hospital bill, interrupted travel (2 days) and the $400 fee for changing the airplane schedule.  Today I received checks for the total amount of the claim.  I was very pleased and surprised that it was settled so quickly.
