[Idyllchat] Bank Charges & Credit Cards

We just returned from Rome and Barcelona, and on all our charges Chase Bank made the euro conversion and then added 3% of the total bill for each item.  Thus a hotel charge in Rome was 722.58 x 1.422624484 (Exchange Rate) + 30.83 (Exchange Rate Adj) for a total of $1058.79.  We had one hotel reservation that we made with Expedia and that was paid in advance with $.  I checked with Commerce Bank here and they told me they would charge
  3% also.  I think you just have to accept the extra charges and not worry too much about it.
   
  In Barcelona we stayed at the Citadines Aparthotel at 121 Ramblas.  All rooms have full
  kitchens and the hotel was across the street from the Carrefours grocery which was wonderful.  Also very close to the outdoor market.  Handy for cooking breakfast and any other meals if  you wanted to do so.
