Hi Ed: We used to be Wells Fargo customers as well. However, a few years ago, their fees went up--considerably. (Think June about three years ago?). Some of our friends were shocked when they returned and discovered the new fees for their trip. In those cases, Wells waived their fees (one time deal). So, if you haven't used your WF ATM card overseas for a few years, check out the WF fees.
We no longer use WF for that reason, but have other options without fees. When you are going for a few weeks it may not amount to much. However, it is the principle--and Untourists by and large are wiley consumers, and why we travel with Untours. Cheers. Joan.

Hi...Had to get my two cents in.
What is the advantage to getting a "new" bank account or ATM card or a new Credit Card...My wife and I have used our Wells Fargo ATM throughout Europe and England with fine results. And our Capital One credit card always worked fine too. In both cases the exchange rate was equal or better than any other method of banking. Unfortunalely this was a few years back but we plan on trying it again soon, we hope.
