    Linda:
How was your camera stolen? Knowing the circumstances of the theft may help other Untour members prevent a theft.

I will be taking a 30GB portable storage device with me on our trip to Paris next Spring. I plan to download the photos at the end of each day even if the memory card is not full. I can always delete the temporarily stored photos when I am ready to download a full card. I also will be taking four 2GB memory cards with me. Like you, I had thought of just getting two 4GB cards (one DVD will accept 4GB's worth of photos). But when I posted that idea on a forum photo site for opinions, I got a response I hadn't thought of. What happens if the 4GB card "crashes"? It can happen. That's 300-400 photos lost. (In your case the 4GB card was lost along with the camera) So I got 2GB cards instead. The only reason I didn't get 1GB memory cards is that they fill up fast. Also 8 cards in the backpack or pocket is a recipe for confusion. Since I have 4 memory cards, I used a black magic marker and numbered the cards 1 to 4. So when card number 2 is full, I know to reach for card number 3 to put in the camera. The same idea applies to the four rechargeable batteries I will be bringing. If I follow the number sequence, I will know which battery to reach for next.

My husband and I just spent a wonderful three weeks in Greece. Two weeks with Untours in Nafplio, with day trips and a couple overnights, and then four days in Athens and three days on Santorini. We had a super time and saw some wondrous sights. However, on the last day in Athens our camera was stolen along with all the pictures we had taken. I guess that will teach me to put a 4GB memory card in the camera. We had about 900 photos. I was wondering if any of you fellow travelers had some good shots of Greece that you would be willing to share. If so, please e-mail me and we can correspond. Thanks so much.

      Linda Paplinski
