Baseball and FootballCornelia:
Global warming is having it's effect here in New Jersey. The leaves are still green on many trees. I may have to cut the lawn again if this keeps up. Last week we were actually able to eat dinner on our deck (with a little fire going in our chiminea).
Have you tried the internet for some baseball or football games? I have a friend in Brazil who is able to watch some college football over the internet.
There's a park behind our house. They just made a cricket field there. I never knew what a cricket ball looked like until I found one while going for a walk. On weekends during the summer, we can here them playing cricket. They cheer for everything. Every time we hear the "bat" hitting the ball, there's a big cheer.
We'll take a small mountain if the cricket field is acceptable to you.

P.S. - We miss Switzerland, along with Berit and Albert. Maybe you can convince Berit & Albert to join the Untours Cafe.

Hi everybody!
Well, I can say that I may be lucky to live in the region you all like to travel a lot and spend your vacation! I enjoy it very much! But.....
But you have no idea how lucky you all are that you can go to watch Baseball games over and over again! You can choose a dozen channels in TV if you are interested in watching another game not near to you! How I wish (and my family!!!) we would have this "spirit" around us! We have mountains, yes, but there is hardly no Baseball!!! Ok, it's a little lie, because we do have Baseball here too but not like the Dodgers, the Giants, the Rockies, the Yankees (we just named our new cat we got two days ago Yankee!), and of cores the Red Sox's! Right before the final games best of 7 started, right in time for the first game we where able to get over a new television company the channel NASN, so we have been able to watch all the games, unfortunately only 4! I wish the Rockies would have won some games too because we didn't want to end it so fast! Now we have to wait until next season to watch Baseball again! It's so sad, you know? How about an exchange: I'll give you one mountain, maybe the Rothorn, and you give us the Giant's stadium! Ok? Next one coming to Switzerland can hand it over to me so I can place it in a perfect spot!
News from Switzerland: Beritt is doing fine after her surgery. I saw her at the hospital, because she and my daughter had their surgeries the same day with the same doctor!!!! I think she is in recovery now.
We had some very fogy days lately, hardly saw any sun, unless we went up to Glaubenberg or so. There it's just perfect! Down here we miss the sun! But, after some really cold days it's getting a little bit warmer now and we did not have a lot of rain at all! The colored leaves are falling down from the trees and nature is soon getting to rest.
We were able to let our children go for Trick or Treat on Halloween - something new in Switzerland! Now we are getting ready for Thanksgiving soon - as you are too! It's nothing Swiss would celebrate, but after me and my family are in the Swiss-American-Society of Lucerne, we are celebrating some of America's nice holidays together! I have to order a real big turkey, but, as you might know, we do not have space in the stove for a bigger turkey than about 14 pounds! Not enough room in there! I have to prepare pumkin-puree by myself because we can't get it at the Migros or Coop! And also cranberry-sauce I have to cook myself, but I like the self-made much better anyway!
As you see, you can live wherever you want - there is something (or more things) you always will miss!
Have a nice fall,
Connie from Heartland, Switzerland
