I think you may have problem here! The can be nothing worse than to take along a brand new camera of any kind that you have never used. You can be sure of missing the shots you want and messing up the ones you do get. I use a Canon EOS 20D and at least three lenses but only ones that I have used for months. There can be no argument that digital is the way to go, but if you are very comfortable with your Rebel, that is the one to take. When you get back, buy a good digital with at least two lenses and use the heck out of them before your next trip.
