[Idyllchat] camera

I bought my little Canon digital camera (PowerShot SD200) with a rechargable battery (I also have a second one to use while the first is recharging) for my 3-month trip to Venice in 2005. Daughter told me to take lots of pix, because I could delete what I didn't like. I said that because I've been to Venice so many times, I probably wouldn't take many pix.

Well! My 512MB memory card holds over 700 shots, and I had to start erasing when I still had a month to go. :-))

This summer I'm taking a 1.0GB for my 2-month trip there. Plus I'm buying another rechargable battery, just in case.

I love this little camera. It fits into my pocket, and is very handy. It has a 3-optical zoom and up to a 10 digital zoom. It also takes audio/visual movies. I found that out by accident when I took a movie of the ceiling of a vaporetto stop, with crying children in the background ;-] There are more expensive ones that also have a more optical zoom.

Hadn't thought about taking as a backup my old APS camera. I also have a disposable camera that can get wet that I don't know what to do with. I just might take that as another backup.

I'm leaving two weeks from tomorrow. Can't wait, but still have lots of getting-ready chores to do.

You will be sick if you do not take the one which is best for your personal use in terms of photo taking. I personally prefer a digital with throw-away batteries and a small backup for emergencies (like a broken camera). But that is because I can print only what I want. I find that when in new places, I tend to take photos at first glance for fear of not seeing the view again. Such a waste if developed and tossed because I found a much better view of the same object.
