I would recommend a good pocket digital camera. I brought my Kodak
easyshare v-550 last summer and it was great. I have a much larger nikon,
and it's possible that i would have gotten even better pics, but the
tradeoff of having to carry it around would not be worth it. Especially when
hiking. I got wonderful shots of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau from the top
of the Schilthorn with my little camera that i blew up into beautiful 16x20
posters.
Having a video option is also great, as i was able to take short (30-second)
videos of cows and their cowbells that i can now play back whenever i want!
