My Paris Untour last May included Ascension Day. I had taken the TGV to the Loire Valley. The train schedule was interrupted by strikers. It all worked out fine, I had some interesting anecdotes to share, and I felt like I'd had a very authentic French experience. However, when I visit France the next time, I will try to avoid using trains on the holidays, especially holidays which begin a long weekend. Here's some good advice from the discoverfrance website:
"Trains and roads near major cities tend to get busy around the national holidays. Not coincidentally, this also happens to be the time when service unions (such as transporters, railroad workers, etc.) like to go on strike something of a tradition, in fact. Travelers would do well to check ahead"...

I just read that in France there are up to 4 holidays in May. Will this be a problem with a Paris Untour during the month of May?
Will tourist sites be closed during those holidays? Has anyone out there who has been in Paris during the month of May
had any problems in this regard?
Thank you,
Bill
