[Idyllchat] Do men wear shorts in Europe?

I have heard that in Europe men don't wear shorts.  Women and children do,
but
it's unusual to see men wearing them.  We're going to be on a Tuscan untour
in
late June, followed by Venice, Paris and London on our own.  I know the
weather
is going to be hot, so  I'm wondering if I should plan on wearing shorts or
if lightweight
slacks would be more appropriate.
