[Idyllchat] train passes

I like to spend the extra money on 1st class for long trips, but if you are
going to be mainly doing local trains like the BOB (Berner Oberland Bahn) it
won't get you anything. BOB trains are basically second class only. You can
always upgrade for long trips by paying the difference between the 2nd class
and 1st class fares. If you do plan on taking a number of longer trips, then
the additional cost may be worth it.
My wife and I are planning on a Swiss Heartland / Ticino sampler. We are
going to go with the 2nd class pass, but on the trips from Zurich to
Brunnig, Brunnig to Locarno, and Locarno to Zurich we are going to pay for
upgrades and a reservation. That way we have a guaranteed seat in 1st class
for the longer trips, but we don't incur the additional expense when we are
going to be mainly riding buses, 2nd-class-only trains, and gondolas.
