Joan,
I also have appreciated your photo journal on the Untours site. We are
heading for our third stay at the Castle the last two weeks in July. We have
reserved the Bird (we stayed here our first trip, but it has been redone since
then) and the Butterfly since we are bringing our grand children (ages 8 and
11) this time. It is their first trip to Europe and we will be traveling with
them for six weeks before we get to our two weeks at the Castle. If they
are half as excited about the trip as they were about getting their passports,
we will have it made. I agree with everything you said about things to see.
This time I am doing a lot of reading to plan things they will enjoy. I
know that Grandma (according to Grandpa) tends to overdo the museum bit so it
will be a new experience for me. We haven't had the opportunity to meet Lilo
yet as she and Manfred married soon after we were there the last time. We
also have not met Moritz, but if he is a tenth the dog of his predecessor, Max,
he is a great dog. If you (or anyone else) think of anything you did that
might appeal to children (and what could be better than living in a castle for
two weeks!) please let me know. I took down details of the fish restaurant
that chatters were talking about last week as I am sure they would enjoy that.
For David, I do remember Manfred saying in one of his Christmas letters
that when he retired he might move into one of the exterior apartments---so they
must be nice. Last time we decided to go on short notice and ended up in
the room next to Manfred's apartment (the Renaissance, I think). It didn't
have a kitchen but we had use of the big one downstairs which was fine with us.
In two previous tours, never saw anyone smoke either. Thanks in advance.
Pat Rogers
