Take a trip to Gubbio, the best medieval town in Italy.  This one of the towns that has an archery contest and also a festival where runners race to the top of the mountain and place a symbol on the church altar. Also, some great roman ruins.  The restaurant "Taverna del Lupo" is part of Buon Ricordo.  Buon Ricordo is a group of restaurants which present commemorative plates to those who have the house specialty. There are Buon Ricordo restaurants all over Italy.  You can go to their web site and apply for a membership card which comes with a list of all the restaurants and their location.  
  Give this town a try.  You won't be disappointed.
